Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that booking a musician for your special event can come with a lot of questions. Here are some FAQs that may be helpful. If you have any questions not listed below, please fill out my contact form - I'm happy to answer them as well!

How much do you charge?

I'm sure you're wondering about cost, which I totally understand. There are a lot of things that play into the overall cost of having a musician at your event, but I try to keep my fee structure relatively straightforward. My baseline cost is $1,000 for the first two hours, and after that it's a straight cost of $300 per hour.

Nine times out of ten, there aren't any additional costs. The only time there might be changes is if you would like additional musicians to join me at your event.

Have you played many private events?

Yes. I've done hundreds of private events over the course of my career. I've played everything from weddings to funerals to corporate parties to house parties.

Can you act as Emcee for my event?

Absolutely, I'm happy to! I've acted as Emcee for plenty of events and managed everything from simple time tracking to let people know when the bar is open or dinner is about to be served all through way through to acting as auctioneer.

Depending how much you need me to do as Emcee, there might be an additional cost, so if this is something you have questions about, fill out my contact form and we can discuss it further.

Can I hear you perform?

I play public performances somewhat from time to time and you're welcome to come to any of those. You can see where I'm going to be playing in public back on the Home page. Anything I have scheduled will be listed there.

If I don't have any shows scheduled, you can check out my YouTube channel to see some of the videos I've recorded and, of course, the player at the bottom of this page will have a few songs I've recorded as well.

Will you have another event before or after ours?

It's possible that I might have multiple events in the same day.

My policy in booking multiple events in one day, however, is to make sure that they're always at least two hours apart and never more than an hour away from one another.

This ensures that even if one event runs a bit late, I still have plenty of time to get set up and ready to play on time.

Will you require equipment, or will you provide it all yourself?

I will provide all of the equipment that I'll need to perform for your event.

How much room will you need?

That's all going to depend on what kind of set up you'd like.

For a basic setup, I'll only need about 75 square feet to set up. If I need more in the way of lights and equipment, the space requirement can go up to 200 square feet.

If there is something specific we'd like to hear, will you need us to supply the music?

Unless it's a really obscure song, I should be able to find the music and references I need to learn it and perform it. If it is a really obscure song, then I might need some help finding it.

What do you typically wear?

I can wear anything from jeans and a t-shirt to a suit to a tuxedo. When we go through our booking confirmation call, we'll discuss the style of dress you'd like.

How much setup time do you need?

For a basic setup, it usually takes about 30 minutes. If it's more intricate with lights and sound, then it might take an hour or so.

What's your sick-day policy?

The show must go on! Unless I'm down with something drastic, I'll be there. If I do have to cancel for illness, I can reach out to my network of performers to find someone to fill in for me (of equal or greater value :)) or refund your payment in its entirety.

What's your cancellation policy?

I understand that things happen. As such, you can cancel all the way up to the day before your event if you need to. We do take a deposit to hold the date and that is non-refundable but as long as you give me 24 hours notice, you won't be on the hook for the full payment.
